Issue #009 -- I'm Still Alive!

Hello my fellow Halloween Haunter -

Yes, yes. I'm still alive. Has it been long enough since my last letter? I've heard that I don't write enough. Want more?

Well, my last newsletter said I couldn't wait for spring. That's come and gone so fast. It's already hot, hot, hot. Where did spring go?

We had a some major events going on here. I have to yack about that first before I can on to the gooey stuff.

First, my oldest daughter graduated from college (aerospace engineering - yeah!). Next, a cruise I had WON! through an internet marketing seminar I attended was scheduled at the end of May (7 days - yeah! You jealous?). Then, my oldest daughter moved to Texas to work with a company related to NASA (yeah & boo). We're very proud of her but will miss the devil out of her.

Oh - and I can't forget! My other daughter and I attended the Midwest Haunters Convention in Columbus, Ohio in early July! What a great event! There was so much to learn and see. It was absolutely great to have so many people around that all loved the same holiday. The knowledge - boy o' boy, the knowledge that was there - not enough time to learn everything - that's for sure! I will definitely have to go back another year. I will be posting a page about that with some pics soon.

Now that I got that off my chest - all of these were wonderful events and it's hard to get back into the swing of normal body corpsing and haunt shopping. You know, the normal day to day stuff.

Request from Readers

I have some requests from readers that I was not able to fully answer. Since I feel like my site is supposed to try to help all Halloween lovers find anything and everything that you need, I was hoping that you might be able help them out or to just throw out some ideas, you know, pick your brains (in the Halloween spirit, of course - eyew!)

I'm a pretty good searcher but I really had a devil of a time trying find these guys. Have you seen or heard of anyplace that might have these? Let me know and I'll pass it on.

I feel like I gave him some good ideas (I will post on a web page as soon as I get that one done ... time, once again - time. Do you have any extra? Pass it my way, could you?) but I wasn't sure if it was enough. I don't want anyone to miss out just because I don't have an answer. Do you have any suggestions? I'll pass it on.

We haunters must stick together. Well..., maybe not stick, that's icky and right now it's way too hot. But then..., with all the creepy, oozy stuff we work with - maybe not. Hmmm, have to think about that one.

We want everyone to find what they are looking for, don't we? Let's help out! I try but sometimes my brains are just out to lunch.

Reader's Suggestions

My last newsletter I was talking about where to get some of the great old stuff you could use in your haunt. One reader sent in another idea that I totally forgot about:

Giggling Ghost wrote:
"During the spring and summer here, our town allows us one free big pick up of monster proportions.  People throw out tables and chair sets, old couches, beds, wheel chairs, old lawn equipment, desks, fish tanks, and I've even seen some big screen tvs. Since these people are throwing these things away you just have to stop and ask if you can take some of it off their hands. It's free! I've seen a lot of people who don't even ask. It's amazing to see what the things others throw out.  My neighbor has a wheel chair they set out on Halloween with what looks like a petrified ghoul."

Definitely great idea! Don't forget to check that out!

eBay

The reason I bring up eBay again is that all sorts of spooky items are being sold all the time there.

I am currently bidding on about 4 items. I lost out on one item, a pneumatic prop that looked like an autopsy, that sure enough, went way over my head and was still a "steal" for the price. I was just hoping I could get it at a cheaper price. That's the way it goes sometimes.

I have a few eBay search pages that might help you find what you are looking for easily, masks, costumes, and props. These are an up-to-date search for your convenience so save those pages. They will always be up to date. Check them out!

New Recipes

I have an old family favorite recipe set up on the site now. It's Guacamole! It is the best guacamole around! Try it out! It goes great in a hallowed out head (as green goo for brains) as a serving bowl.

Just in case you don't already know how, I also added a page about how to grow an avocado plant (since you're making guacamole now anyway.) My plants are growing pretty good now. I need to get pictures on the page, so check back on that one.

In the Pot Brewing

I have several projects brewing up at this time. One project is a video of applying vampire makeup with yours truly. Another project is comparing the different kinds of cobwebs. The cobweb spinner, the cobweb gun, the cobwebs in a can and the good ole stringy webs. We'll see which are the best.

If there is something you want to see, hear about, eat, or know how to do, let me know - I am dying to hear from you!

I promise I will get the next letter out ALOT quicker than this one - bad Sandy. Bad, bad Sandy.

Until next time - Happy Haunting!

Your Halloween fanatic,

Sandy Love
